Mt.Pulag: The Playground of Gods

This is a gallery that showcases the photos I captured during my hike in Mt.Pulag.

In February 2024, I returned to the Philippines for a vacation, and part of it included hiking Mt. Pulag with my friends. If you’re planning a Mt. Pulag hike, I’ve written a blog that might help you plan your trip: ‘2024 Ultimate 2D1N Mt. Pulag Guide: Akiki – Ambangeg.

The Hiking Team

We are a group of 7 hikers, including the guide. Among us, 3 are my friends, while the other two are a couple that we just met on this trip. We set off from the Akiki Trail to conquer Mt. Pulag. In another blog post, I described why the Akiki Trail is often regarded as the Killer Trail.

These are some of the images I captured at the Peak of Mt.Pulag. The pictures were captured using Insta 360 One X2, DJI Mini 4 Pro, and a phone camera.

Dawn at The Grassland

On the second day of our hike, we set off from Marlboro Campsite on the Akiki Trail at around 2 AM and arrived at the Grassland at dawn, around 5 AM. It was a very uplifting moment to arrive at the grassland, as we had been hiking for 3 hours through the mossy forest in pitch darkness. Seeing the beautiful skyline at dawn from this elevation was nothing short of a priceless view you can get when hiking Mt.Pulag.

The Akiki Trail

The Akiki Trail, also known as the ‘Killer Trail,’ is one of the toughest and most challenging routes on Mt. Pulag. This trail traverses a river, pine forest, and mossy forest over a span of 7 km. Being surrounded by the pine forest gives me a vibe like a place you couldn’t imagine exists in the Philippines, especially if you’re someone like me who spent most of his life in the city.

Ambangeg Trail

We ended the hike by descending through the Ambangeg Trail, also known as the ‘Artista Trail.’ It is the easiest and safest trail to reach the peak of Mt. Pulag. This trail reveals more of the exceptional beauty of Mt. Pulag, proving itself as ‘The Playground of Gods.’
